A charming film concerning an elopement which fails. College students David and Nancy are very much in love, but know their parents won’t agree to their marriage at 18 and 17. At David’s instigation they run away from Canada to the United States, but in spite of Nancy’s grown-up frock and forged date on her birth certificate, everything goes wrong. The boy’s confidence fades and in the end Nancy, at first troubled and tremulous, slowly assumes control of the situation and makes the decisions for them both. With a mature outlook, the young couple decides to wait.

Bing Crosby was invited several times for an onstage tribute at the Festival, reports then-director Claude Jarman, but declined the honor. “Nobody wants to see those little things that I used to do,” he modestly replied. He did attend though, with wife Kathy and their friend, Rita Hayworth.
