Shown with Never Give Up: The 20th-Century Odyssey of Herbert Zipper.Violin prodigy Lyndall Hendrickson has trained some of Australia’s most gifted young musicians, as well as those with severe autism. This moving documentary focuses on her current work with an 11-year-old autistic, disabled child, Patrick Farley, who displays innate musical ability of a rare order. A growing bond is established as Hendrickson, through Patrick’s musical talent, teaches him to speak in sentences. Hendrickson, too, had found music to be her liberator when polio struck at the height of her performance career. With her unorthodox methods of teaching, she taps the same spirit in her students that enabled her to continue.
