In The Feather Fairy, Jakubisko's penchant for folklore, intermingling naturalistic elements with poetic ones, finds an appropriate outlet in a charmingly imaginative reworking of a fairytale by the Brothers Grimm. As the eponymous guardian angel of life, the incandescent Giulietta Masina sparkles in the enchantment of her feathery domain, outwitting her wicked half-sister in a struggle for a young boy's life.

The San Francisco International showed Lina Wertm’ller’s first film, The Lizards, in 1963. A favorite of Bay Area audiences, her features All Screwed Up and The Seduction of Mimi had their U.S. premieres at the SFIFF in 1972 and 1974.
