Part of Future for the Past: A Tribute to Warren Sonbert & the Estate Project. Warren Sonbert’s films are perhaps best known as rooted in the avant-garde “diarist” film tradition. A post-mortem reassessment of his career, made possible through the support of the Estate Project for Artists with AIDS, strongly suggests a different persona, revealing both a probing and playful artist and a keen intellect reveling in the interplay between all the creative arts.
Made when Sonbert was only 19 years old, Amphetamine is a tour de force of ’60s counterculture.
