Marie Laforêt in person. The French new wave of film makers has been responsible for some of the most inventive and interesting work being done in motion pictures. The common denominators have been youth, exuberance, and a disrespect for what have traditionally been taken as established film-making procedures. Twenty-four-year-old Jean Albicocco is the latest addition. In this, his first film, he has tackled an unusually difficult and complex subject, the detailed exploration of a strange love affair, employing a number of exceptional visual effects suggesting a subtle, bizarre undertone throughout this film.
