Shown with Birthplace. Maciej Janusz Drygas in person.Hear My Cry investigates the public suicide of a man who, in the watershed year of 1968, killed himself in the name of freedom, as a final gesture against Communist doublespeak. His self-immolation in a crowded Warsaw stadium brought his message to the world. Or did it? Those interviewed today tell how “we just went about our business” and they are meant to speak for a blasé nation. If history could talk, it probably would not cry.
