Columba Domínguez in person.In the Mexican state of Oaxaca, certain villages celebrate their saint's days by electing a “Majordomo” to preside over three days of annual festivities. Animas Trujano tells the story of an arrogant Zapotec Indian who wishes to exalt himself in the eyes of his wife, family, beautiful mistress and domineering friends by winning this coveted position. Japan's leading actor, Toshiro Mifune, in his first Mexican film, plays the tragicomic part of the Indian. World famous cinematographer Gabriel Figueroa is presented with the ruins of the sacred city of Monte Alban for his artistic eye.
