Brigitte Fossey attended.François Truffaut’s new film is an unusual tale of a man who is obsessed by women, to the extent that the obsession becomes more important than the women who satisfy it. Neither a gigolo nor a Don Juan, the man is nonetheless very successful at seduction, although incapable of maintaining a relationship. The film is also an homage to the talent of one of France’s leading character actors, Charles Denner, who dominates the film in much the same way that Isabelle Adjani did Truffaut’s thematically related work, The Story of Adele H. Brigitte Fossey and Leslie Caron make strong appearances in key roles as the two women who best understand the man who loved love.
