First shown at the 1959 Festival. Screened again as part of the program of Hubley's shorts entitled Appreciating the Universe in 2000. Faith Hubley appeared in person as the recipient of the Persistence of Vision Award in 2000.

In the Hubleys’ first Oscar winner, the Hubley boys slip out of the house one moonlit night to catch a bird to replace their lost parakeet.

French New Wave actress Jeanne Moreau’s 1974 Festival tribute, called “a veritable orgy” for her fans by the Examiner’s Stanley Eichelbaum, included screenings of four films (The Lovers, Jules and Jim, Bay of Angels and Diary of a Chambermaid), an onstage interview with Moreau and an additional two hours of clips. Running nine to 11 hours (depending on the source), the tribute was the longest recorded at the Festival.
