Oliveira takes on the bourgeoisie in a satiric comedy set in contemporary Portugal. This boulevard farce revolves around a young woman's contempt for her successive husbands, all of whom she morbidly venerates once she is widowed. A fast-paced, over-the-top parody of decadent bourgeois values that has invited comparisons with The Exterminating Angel and Rules of the Game.
