Shown with Vision Man.Meanwhile, in the Big Apple, man and nature get along a bit less harmoniously. Mark Lewis, director of the unforgettable Cane Toads (SFIFF 1988), turns his quirky viewpoint toward the ongoing struggle between the common Norway rat and the wide stratum of New Yorkers forced to encounter it daily. Lewis pits a rat’s-eye view of life in the big city against humans’ personal tales to fashion an original, chilling, at times hilarious and ultimately educating look at one of Earth’s most adaptable creatures. Rat may not make you like rats but you’ll begrudge ’em a little more respect. Just keep the Doritos in a safe place.
