Shown in the Laughing in the Lowlands: Lodewyk Crijns program.Using a dizzy documentary style, Crijns tracks two mangy brothers, Egbert and Herman, reduced to scrambling for odd jobs in the South of France. Like crusty barnacles on a ship’s hull, they’ve affixed themselves to their pert and pretty neighbor, Julie, who’s confused by the attention of these two ZZ Top look-alikes. With a talent for satire grounded in the scruffiest of details, Crijns keeps you off balance and gagging on your own laughter.
