Shown 10/27/74; Rodion Nakhapetov attended. This lushly photographed love story was the first Soviet entry ever at the Berlin Film Festival. Set against the social struggles of rural Russia in the early 1920s, the story focuses on a love triangle between a beautiful girl, a wealthy farmer and a member of a farm collective. The heroine is played by Marina Mejelova, and both emotional uncertainty and political leanings keep her relationships in constant flux. Director Rodion Nakhapetov, who is also an actor, is attending the Festival for the American premiere of his film.
