Blue Country

This is the much awaited new film by the director of Cousin, Cousine. Here Jean Charles Tacchella turns his ironic insight toward the countryside and the foibles of city people who have “got back to the land” and rural folks who dream of moving to the city. Brigitte Fossey stars as a nurse who has moved to the village to take care of everyone, while maintaining her modern philosophies and liberated ethics. Ginette Garcin (the mother in Cousin, Cousine) stands out as an eccentric free spirit who does exactly as she pleases. But all of the town’s inhabitants are thoroughly developed characters, and we come to know them all as Tacchella does, better than they know themselves.
