Shown as The Age of Infidelity.Lucía Bosé plays a married woman who knocks down and fatally injures a cyclist while she is driving with her lover (Alberto Closas). There are no witnesses to the accident, and the pair flee from the scene. Possible consequences, however, are suggested at a subsequent cocktail party, by a sly and smiling rogue (Carlos Casaravilla), who threatens to “ferret out your unpretty secrets.” He is a fascinating performer, a social parasite who hates the wealthy people who entertain him. Director Juan Antonio Bardem moves from one sequence to another with startling suddenness, creating considerable dramatic impact. The film is an absorbing one, progressing to its violent climax in convincing and inexorable fashion.
