The names of the Shaw brothers, Runme and Run Run, are synonymous with entertainment in the Far East. The Taiwan entry, The Golden Trumpet, was made by the Shaw company, with Runme producing. This experienced combination, allied with the verve of gifted director Doe Ching, has resulted in a most interesting drama. The central figure is a night club trumpet player with a penchant for gambling. One night he arrives home penniless to find his pregnant wife has been taken to a hospital. His efforts to raise enough money for a vitally important operation lead him into degradation and despair.
